Crosswalks Nearly Complete
By Sade Malloy
Yakima -- No more dodging cars to get to Department of Social and Health Services, there's a lighted crosswalk now!
The 16th Avenue crossing is one of four opening in the next couple weeks and people are relieved. "It's convenient for people walking across to get to the bus stop I think it's safer for people," said Greg Amaro. Crosswalks are also going in on 16th Avenue and Bonnie Doon, MLK Boulevard and 4th Street and North First Street and 'N' street. It's cost about $350,000 to construct all four and the money came from the Real Estate Excise Tax. |
