Mabton -- He went from working part-time to overtime, now Mabton Police Chief Robert Perales is doing double duty working two jobs.

Chief Perales is working 20 hours for the Mabton Police Department and 40 hours with the Mabton School District, Perales is the new SRO, school resource officer.

Chief Robert Perales, Mabton Police Chief says, "In reality it's something I've always liked doing in the first place, coming to the schools, visiting and seeing how things were going. Now they have that direct contact with the chief of police of the city."

Chief Perales divides his day between Mabton's Elementary, Middle and High Schools.

He spends a majority of the time at the high school talking to students, making presentations and looking for runaways.
