YAKIMA -- These kids have been abused and neglected and most of them don't have a home to go to. Foster care programs say children are in need of foster homes more than ever. With the holiday season just around the corner, programs are working overtime, trying to find kids a place to live. Former foster children say getting taken into a family is what changed their lives for the better.

Tammy Soderberg tells Action News, “Just the sense of community, I was able to experience and have and grow through that instead of having to be a lone ranger.

Yakima has about 500 children living in foster homes. If you want to invite a foster child into your home, you can call Casey Family Programs Director, Lynn Biggs at (509) 457-8197. For more information, log onto their website: www.casey.org.
