YAKIMA -- Families and friends attended a farewell ceremony for the 81st Brigade Support Battalion, before the soldiers head to Iraq.

Ed Houser says parting from loved ones is never easy, "It hurts. It hurts down deep. There's a lot of tears going right now than anything else. We hate to see it happen, but you gotta do what you gotta do."

The soldiers spent a month at the Yakima Training Center, practicing combat skills to serve a one year tour.
More than half of the soldiers have already been to Iraq.
