YAKIMA -- Last week, we told you about an alarm system company that is flagged by the Better Business Bureau, and people are talking about it.

If you press an emergency button on the APX Alarm Systems, the alarms call the company's headquarters in Utah, and then they call your local 911.
But instead, Yakima dispatch has gotten automated phone calls from these alarms. They say this is illegal in our state.

Dispatch director, Wayne Wantland tells Action News, "It was a false alarm. So that's the problem with these devices. There are more false alarms than there are real alarms."

Dispatch says APX Alarm Systems isn't the only one to blame.
They say alarm owners can change the settings after the systems are installed in a home.
If you own one of these, you will want to check if your settings are right, or you can get fined.
