SELAH, Wash. -- Selah's Civic Center might get a major renovation that could run $750,000.

City leaders say the aging building needs a lot of work. Plumbing is one of the biggest problems. The renovation also calls for expanding the rooms and changing the entrance.

Selah applied for a grant to pay for half of it. The city already put aside more than $200,000 of its own money.

Selah's recreation manager says it has to be done.

“We're excited because it'll give us an opportunity to show off the building and quit dealing with problems that are arising on a regular basis, and it will give us an opportunity to increase our business, as well," said Charlie Brown.

A decision on the grant is expected in August or September. The renovation work would be finished in five years.
