EMS Levy Failed
By Sade Malloy
Yakima -- The proposed EMS levy failed at last night's council meeting which means it wouldn't make the Fall or Spring ballots.
The fire department is optimistic there's still a shot to get it before voters in November. Chief Charlie Hines, Yakima Fire Department says, "Obviously we're all disappointed that the council didn't come to a finite conclusion on scheduling however I'm very optimistic and encouraged that pretty much across the board they saw a need for an EMS Levy." If the EMS levy makes it onto the ballot Chief Hines says a temporary levy would not solve the problem. The levy needs to be on-going. |
