GRANDVIEW--
A fire suddenly put 140 people out of work in Grandview.
But one day after the fire, it was an all-out effort to answer questions and get dislocated workers the help they needed.
The temp agency BBSI, Worksource Sunnyside, along with unemployment services.
We made some calls to see how successful those organizations have been placing folks.

Worksource says McCain Fruit Processing in both Othello and Tri-Cities definitely have openings.
But no one's jumped for the jobs yet--probably because both locations are far from Yakima.
Worksource is also helping people out with the 'Rapid Response program'--so if you want to get re-trained at a technical school, Worksource will work with the potato plant and the school on funding options.

We also looked into the issue of Ochoa foods' potatoes--6 million pounds of them--still holed up at the wild river foods plant.
The potatoes were in cold storage--a spot that most likely wasn't damaged by flames.
Crews haven't made it inside that building yet but they've managed to get refrigerant into the storage area using coils!
So as far as they know, those 6-million pounds are still fresh.

We'll keep you updated on progress with jobs at the Grandview plant.
You can reach Worksource Sunnyside by calling 509-836-5405.
