YAKIMA/TRI-CITIES, Wash.-- If you're getting rid of your Christmas tree, there are just a few more days to recycle it for a good cause. Camp Prime Time is holding their annual tree recycling program in Yakima.

You can drop off your evergreens at two different locations in Yakima until Sunday. Bring a tree to either Washington Tractor (formerly Barnett Implement) on 3110 Fruitvale Ave or Colonial Lawn and Garden on 1118 W. Washington Ave.  Trees are accepted from 8am to 5pm. All the money goes to this year's summer camp for seriously ill, terminally ill and handicapped kids and their families.

"Their expenses through their lives, their families lives, go to cover medical costs," Ralph Berthon said. "They don't have recreational opportunities like a lot of people do so this is important to those kids."

In the Tri-Cities, Christmas tree pickup continues with regular trash pickup.  All three cities have curbside disposal.  People in Pasco and other Basin Disposal Customers don't need to cut the tree up.  Just set it out on trash day and it will be taken.  Those in Richland or those using Waste Management in Kennewick need to cut the tree up first.  Chop it into two-foot sections and make sure no garland or tinsel is on it.  There is no extra fee for tree pick-up except in rural Franklin County.
