YAKIMA -- US Citizenship and Immigration Services gave 534 new citizens from 42 countries naturalization status.
All the new citizens and their families filled the room at the Capitol Theatre. Judge James P. Hutton, State Senator Curtis King, and State Representative Mary Skinner were on hand. Action News talked to one of the new citizens about the process. Adriana Valladores, who moved here from Mexico, said, "You always think it's going to be so hard to do and it's not really, it's just like go and do it and the hardest thing is the first step." Most of the the new citizens are from Central Washington, three of them spoke out to the crowd. |
