ZILLAH, Wash. -- More than 100 people gathered Wednesday night to remember a teen who died after a car crash.

Jeremiah Atkins, a recent Zillah High School Graduate, died late Monday night. He was a member of Zillah High School's Class of 2013.

The memorial was held at the high school's football field.

There was an open microphone for people to share their experiences with Jerry,

"Jerry was Jerry ... you could be so comfortable around Jerry, you could just be yourself and he'd love you. You'd meet him one time and you don't know who he was, and you'd want to be his best friend," said Alex Gomez, a close friend.

Friends wrote messages for Jerry on balloons that they released to the sky.

His class raised eight hundred dollars to donate to his family.
