3 arrested for marijuana; 4 kids taken into protective custody

HERMISTON, Ore. -- Police arrested three people for marijuana possession among other charges when they served a search warrant Monday at the Sunset Motel.

Officers found Tara Johnson, 24, in a hotel room. They said she had a warrant for her arrest.

Police said they could smell marijuana from outside the room which had two men and four young children inside.

The Department of Human Services took the children into protective custody. They ranged in age from newborn to six-years-old.

Police also arrested Adam Saad, 21, and Rodney Birgil, 51.

Here are the official charges.

Tarra Johnson of Hermiston, with Frequenting a Place where Controlled Substances are Used, (4) counts of Endangering the Welfare of Minor, and Possession of Less than Ounce of Marijuana within 1000' of a School.

Adam Saad of Hermiston, with Frequenting a Place where Controlled Substances are Used, (4) counts of Endangering the Welfare of Minor, and Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana within 1000' of a School.

Rodney Virgil of Hermiston, with Unlawful Possession of Meth, Frequenting a Place where Controlled Substances are Used, (4) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, and Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana within 1000’ of a School.

All three were processed at the Hermiston Police Department and then taken to the Umatilla County Jail.
