Fire destroys garage, damages cars in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Fire destroyed a garage and damaged two cars Tuesday afternoon in Yakima.

Firefighters arrived and quickly contained the fire before it spread. They knocked it down in about 20 minutes.

Nobody was hurt and no homes were damaged.

The fire destroyed the detached garage and a Jeep that was inside of it. Firefighters said radiant heat damaged a neighbor's camping vehicles, an RV and a pickup truck.

One neighbor said she was running to help but was stopped by two explosions.

"I got out of the car and start looking and didn't get closer because it can be another explosion and we didn't know what kind of explosion. I thought it was gas," Oralia Rodriguez said.

The fire is still under investigation.
