Should taxpayers cover Majestic murder suspect's tab?

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Prosecutors want to know how much money John Munzanreder has. He's the man accused of planning the murder of his wife.
They argued Thursday that Munzanreder should be required to disclose financial information prior to the appointment of a public defender at the cost of taxpayers.
Munzanreder is suspected of planning his wife's murder as they left a Union Gap movie.
A judge originally decided Munzanreder would need a public defender following his first court appearance on murder charges.
Prosecutors indicate the husband made more than $100,000 a year. They also believe he has access to $80,000 in financial accounts and owns multiple properties.
Munzanreder's lawyer argued his client's assets would not cover the cost of a murder trial.
At this moment a public defender will remain on the case.
He needs to pay. It isn't complicated; if a person can afford an attorney, then they pay. Being able to afford an attorney or not does not change the presumption of innocence. They are separate from each other.  Let's hope that Cindy's family can put a freeze on 1/2 of the estate. Wasn't Cindy married to him for nearly 18 years?
He was willing to pay to have Cindy shot, did it himself so why shouldn't he pay for his defense. He put the actions in motion so if he didn't want to share it with her then by gosh he should have to pay an attorney. Â
Hell no! If he can afford to hire to kill then he can afford to hire an attorney; tired of tax money being used for POS
No he should be the one resposible for all costs period.
Hell no , if you cannot afford one , one will be appointed to you is the saying , he can afford one, period.
Why should an innocent man have to spend his life savings defending himself in court? He shouldn't. And he is innocent until he either pleads guilty to something, or is found guilty by a jury.
If he is convicted, then yes, he should have to reimburse the county/state. So let the state freeze his funds until that happens.
@YakimaJusticeForAllAnd why should the tax payers who are out there working hard everyday pay his bill. Fine keep a tab of his court costs and if he is found guilty he pays....if innocent he doesn't. County has no problem whining about needing money for this or that but go ahead and pay the bill for another person who probably killed someone because he was greedy in the first place. If history repeats itself John will be found innocent even if he is guilty and he gets all his money too.
@YakimaJusticeForAll if he was innocent sure. But need I say more.Â
