YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- The Yakima County Sheriff's Office identified a man who said he accidentally shot his wife as 25-year-old Cory Lindblom.
They identified his wife as 27-year-old McKaylee Higgs. Officials said she remains in critical condition.
The shooting happened early Friday morning in the couples’ bedroom.
Lindblom told investigators he thought she was an intruder. He has been cooperating with detectives as they investigate.
Action News spoke with Yakima County Prosecutor Jim Hagarty about his department's role in this case.
Hagarty said prosecutors will meet with the lead deputy to find out what evidence has been collected and the theories to explain what happened.
No decision on charges will be made until deputies finish investigating and turn the case over to prosecutors.

I keep a firearm next to my bed and believe in home pertection. I have trouble with this story because I would never pull the trigger without knowing who I was shooting. I also keep a can of wasp spray near my fire-arm, (it works better than pepper spray for distance). The logic just isn't there. A pregant woman is bound to get up in the middle of the night due to back pain, trouble sleeping, having to use the bathroom or being sick, why would the husband not take this in consideration before pulling the trigger? Also, why would he not realize that she was not next to him in bed, he had the presence of mind to find the gun, how could he not notice his wife was not in the bed? .......

@Lynn I don't agree, but hopefully she survives. Maybe she's pregnant, and who knows about a couples private life, and his story is weak.
REALLY ! what a weak story
@PROTECT THE KIDS Yes, too many people don't know the real story and how loving this couple was. It's tragic and please pray for their healing.
