Flood Warning Continues For Naches River

The flood warning for the Naches River near Cliffdell and Naches continues. Moderate to minor flooding is predicted for the river.

Near Cliffdell, The National Weather Service in Pendleton, OR, expects the Naches to rise above flood stage, 31.0 feet, by early Saturday. At 11 a.m. on Friday, the river was at 30.2 feet.

The weather service expects the Naches to rise to near 31.9 feet by late Monday morning and remain above flood stage for most of next week. Minor flooding is forecast.

Near the town of Naches, the Weather Service predicts the Naches will rise above flood stage, 17 feet, by midnight Friday. At 10 a.m. on Friday, the river was at 16.7 feet. Moderate flooding is predicted.

The weather service expects the Naches to rise to nearly 19 feet by Monday morning and also will stay above flood stage throughout much of next week.

Unseasonably warm weather, 15-20 degrees above normal has caused the rapid melting of the snowpack.

High temperatures are forecast through Monday with cooler weather moving into the region on Tuesday, slowing the snow melt.
