YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA is taking action for you about a dead dog left in an alley here in Yakima a month ago. The animal is covered with a sheet and tires.

Neighbors along the 400 block of 5th Avenue say they tried asking the dog's owner to remove it.

Action News contacted the Yakima Health District. The agency told the owner to remove the dog within 24 hours.

Neighbors worry about potential disease or other contamination.

"I'm in shock especially with everything that just happened in the last week and nobody even noticed or said anything about it," said neighbor Stephenie Rae.

We took it a step further by contacting animal control. Officers there told us the dog owner has been asked to remove the dog twice.

Action News will follow up.
