New Contracts Almost Cause A Strike
By Robin Woodson
SELAH -- More than 200 workers showed up at a meeting this morning to negotiate new contracts.
Some of the workers told Action News, they weren't too thrilled with the offer and were prepared to strike. They told us the Union agreed to keep the current pension plan in the new contracts, but say it was taken out. Matthew Tenney, who works for the company, is upset with the new contract. "It's going to affect our future in the long run and that's our retirement, and now-a-days, it's not so easy to live, the price of gas, is going to keep going up, they're going to freeze our pension and then we're going to have to rely on 401k," Tenney said. The contract went to a vote and passed, so workers are still on the job. |
