Time's Up for Western RV?
By Maria Medina
UNION GAP -- An eviction notice given to Western Recreational Vehicles last week gave the company until midnight Wednesday to get out, and Action News found out the company may not have to leave.
When Action News went to Western RV, it seemed the company had a lot of cleaning up to do until the deadline, and three people who walked out of a building refused to talk to KIMA. "I don't work for the company," said one man. Another told a KIMA reporter,"I think you need something better to do with your time, young lady." As for the eviction notice, an investigator with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office said the property owner is in talks with Western RV's lenders hoping to come to some kind of resolution. If no resolution is made, Western RV could then be kicked off the lot. In another strange twist, dozens of laid-off workers told KIMA Tuesday that Western RV was temporarily hiring them back for a few weeks. Again, no one from the company would confirm that. The company shut down last month for financial reasons. More than 200 workers got laid-off. More than a year before that, Action News found a lawsuit against Western RV that alleged the company didn't pay rent totaling around $400,000. |
