Attorney: Taylor Bridge fire victims plan to sue state
CLE ELUM, Wash. -- The nearly 60 Taylor Bridge fire victims now plan to sue the state for damages, according to their attorney Mike Helgren.
Helgren told KIMA the state failed to get the construction companies to comply with "reasonable fire precautions," and didn't adequately respond to the fire once it started.
"If the state had done its job, the fire wouldn't have started," said Helgren.
Nearly 60 fire victims are currently listed on the lawsuit, but Helgren said that number will grow Friday when paperwork is filed in Kittitas County, adding the State of Washington as a defendant.
More than 60 homes burned in the fire last summer.
Investigators say welding at a construction site with crews from Conway Construction and Rainier Steel started the blaze back in August.
Gee why go after the construction companies that caused the fire? These folks are nothing more than money grubbing irresponsible sleaze bags looking to make it rich off the tax payers. Pathetic. You folks chose not to have fire insurance while living in area known for fiorest fires? So your intentional nnegligence now has to be paid for by me? I think not. Get a job. Take responsibility for your negligence. Good old right wing conservatives refusing to work while expecting everyone else to pay their way thru life.
Yup... dumb-a55 union worker caused the fire, but everyone else ends up paying for his negligence. He probably still has his job. Unions = corruption and laziness.
