Family selling everything to pay bills after cancer diagnosis

Family selling everything to pay bills after cancer diagnosis
The Charles Family

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima family received some sad news this summer. Wanda Charles was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

Josh is a Yakima native who went to West Valley High school. His wife Wanda now needs full-time care and the bills are piling up.

They've currently selling everything they own to pay for bills, basic necessities, and to keep Christmas as normal as possible for their amazing little girl while Wanda is receiving treatment.

Here's their story:

I met my wife Wanda back in the spring of 2001. I knew from the start that she was the one for me. She understood everything about me and I her. I remember spending countless hours on the phone and endless weekend trips from Yakima to Vancouver while we were dating, just to see her for a short while each time. Finally in August of 2001 I made the “big move” out of Yakima to be with my soul mate. I'll admit, it took me a long time to get used to all the rain over here, or "liquid sunshine" as natives from over here call it. :) But to be with her, nothing else mattered. We were married February 21st 2003. God willing, we will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary next year!

Wanda is a native of La Center, WA. Growing up in the Vancouver/Portland area. Wanda's parents both passed while she was young. She had been through so much at such a young age. The strength and kindness that woman possesses is amazing. Not only in overcoming a tough childhood, but in having the amazing ability to fully love and make all those around her feel authentically cared for and cherished. She is my true gift from God!

We have created a good life for ourselves now breaking all the destructive cycles we witnessed as children to offer our daughter something we never had; stability, trust, and a never ending supply of assurance, love, and grace for our daughter and each other.

We really don't have anyone except each other. My mother and I don't have a functioning relationship. I never had a father, he left when I was two years old. My family is my wife, our daughter, our best friend Jordan, and of course all of our Facebook friends and family!

This cancer is threatening the life we have created and that frightens us to the core. She is bravely fighting for her life every day. I don't know what we would do without her. She and this family are my heart and my everything.

My wife is an amazing woman, best friend, and most of all, a fantastic mother. We are trusting know matter what, that God has a plan for her life and it is all in His hands. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and for your generosity. We love and cherish each one of you.

Thank you all so much, every little bit helps.
