86-year-old Harrah woman killed in crash with fruit truck
UNION GAP, Wash. -- An 86-year-old woman died following a car crash Friday morning on I-82. Troopers identified the woman as Olive Pastrana of Harrah.
Officials say the woman was driving her car down the interstate just before 10:00 a.m. when she tried to make a U-turn on the freeway from the right lane.
A fruit truck tried to pass her on the left, clipped the car and drug it down the road. The semi came to a stop in a creek off the roadway.
Emergency responders attempted CPR on Pastrana. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say the truck driver was not injured. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
R.I.P auntie you will be missed by many.
I was traveling about 100yrds right behind them. It was very tragic, the car did turn right in front of the truck. He swerved but it was impossible to miss. My heart does go out to the family and friends of the woman, and also the driver. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life. We did our best to render aide.
Making a U-turn? Clipping the car on the left? Then why is the car facing forward? This article was published at 10:21AM. The accident happend "just before 10:00AM"? So did they spend a whole 15 minutes investigating this fatality? Or, was this just a quick interview with the truck driver? He has nothing to lose, right? Do they have investigators in Union Gap?
@Lisa No, the truck tried to PASS her on the left. The left hand lane. What's your hell on this? The State Patrol is IN Union Gap. It is possible to get a report out fast, not saying they did, but yeah, it is possible.
