YAKIMA, Wash. -- A project in the making for years is now underway. Students and the community gathered for the groundbreaking of the new Davis High School.

The community passed a bond to fund the project back in 2009. It's expected to cost nearly $100 million.

Administrators say the new school will provide stability for students along with new technology. They say the new building will give Yakima kids better opportunities.

"With construction of Davis over multiple years this will mean that every single student in the Yakima School District will attend a state of the art school, a 21st century building," said Dr. Elaine Beraza, Yakima School District superintendent.

If all goes according to schedule, the school will be finished in 2015.
