YAKIMA, Wash. -- The city says tougher punishments for squatters is paying off. Codes enforcement is cracking down on people who illegally park in random lots.

At one point there were four campers parked in the empty lot across from Sarg Hubbard Park.

Police and code enforcement officers say their tickets and towing made a difference.

They say these people are now finding a legal place to park.
