YAKIMA -- A Yakima police officer who crashed his bike was released from the hospital earlier this week, said hospital officials Thursday.

Officer Darryl Henning initially was checked-in in serious condition a few weeks ago and even spent some time in the intensive care unit.

Henning was trying to pull someone over on Summitview Avenue when a driver coming from a side street pulled out in front the officer.

Henning had broken bones in his arms, legs and pelvis.
