ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) — A 700-acre wildfire is threatening some homes near Ellensburg. Officials said Thursday afternoon that crews had a created a fire line around the perimeter.
Officials said evacuation orders were lifted Thursday afternoon.
An official with the Department of Natural Resources office in Ellensburg, Koshare Eagle, said the fire broke out around midnight northeast of Ellensburg.
She said residents of a couple of homes have been told to be ready to evacuate and residents of about 15 other homes have been alerted to the danger.
Eagle says firefighters are using four bulldozers and a couple of helicopters. With more resources on the way, she says there's a good chance of success.
