Jury acquits man accused of scalding toddler in hot bath water

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Lance Stafford was found not guilty Wednesday of scalding his girlfriend's 2-year old daughter in 2010.
His defense team argued it was an accident; the toddler fell into the hot bath water.
Stafford was acquitted of 2nd degree assault of a child.
The trial started last Thursday.
Prosecutors argued Lance Stafford put his girlfriend's daughter in the hot water and held her there. She wound up with serious burns and needed to be treated in Seattle.
Defense attorneys argued the girl fell in the bathtub while Stafford was in a different room.
