WSP: 15-year-old dead after running stop sign, passenger injured

TOPPENISH, Wash.-- An accident left one dead and one injured Tuesday night. Troopers said 15-year-old Irving Tapia-Reyes was driving with 13-year-old Jesus Manual Padilla around 8:15 Tuesday night. WSP said Tapia-Reyes ran a stop sign at the intersection of Fort Road and Becker Road in Toppenish when he struck the car of a White Swan woman.

The woman in the second vehicle was not injured. It is unclear if Tapia-Reyes was wearing a seatbelt. He died at Memorial Hospital. The 13-year-old passenger was transported to Harborview in Seattle and is in serious condition. No charges have been filed.
