New county levy in time for spring flooding
YAKIMA COUNTY - You asked KIMA about the construction happening off of Highway 24.
We learned crews are working around the clock to add a new levy off the Yakima River.
The Army Corps of Engineers is paying the bill.
Yakima County says the old levy repeatedly failed during last spring and summer.
"Because of the weather we lost some time so we're just trying to get back on schedule to get the levy completed before the spring flood season," said Army Corps Construction Rep Travis Hightower.
Construction should wrap up in a couple of weeks.
