YAKIMA - The biggest worry on most high school student's minds is fitting in and being like everyone else. Monday, a group of students at Ike High School went against the grain. They have a completely new look, for a great cause.

A typical day at IKE High School includes racing to class, chatting with friends, and if you're Hannah Charron De La Vegay, perfecting your English skills.

"I like to write,” she said. “I write a lot. I'm really good at creative writing."

Another big part of Hannah's day is fitting in.

"People judge you a lot on what you look like,” she said.

Hannah admits putting a great deal of time into her look.

"I haven't cut my hair since 6th or 7th grade,” she said.

But Monday, her six year hiatus from the beauty parlor was over. Hannah and the rest of her drama club brought the salon to school.

"I don't do things normal high school students do,” she said.

The cast of Ike high school's upcoming musical all agreed to chop their hair to fairly portray the 1920's famous bobs. It’s something that got Hannah's heart racing more than being on stage.

"I'm honored they would even do this,” said teacher Janey Peterson. “You know how teenage girls are."

And it isn't just Hannah and her pals getting a new look, but also cancer patients through Locks of Love. The cuts were about so much more than the play.

"It makes you want to cry,” Peterson said. “It really does. A lot of people have lost someone to cancer and whatever I can do personally I will. It takes my breath away."

One of those people is Hannah. She watched her dear friend's mom pass away from the disease.

"Seeing someone go through that much pain, you don't know what to do to help them out with it,” she said.

But the girls said they hope their pile of hair is a start.
