Selah snow dump worries nearby neighbors
SELAH - KIMA did some more digging into the response to the snow storm, and found some of it is winding up in the wrong place after being plowed off the streets.
Neighbors in Selah tell Action News they noticed trucks dumping snow on city property next to their house; some crews working late into the night.
Neighbors got concerned about flooding once it melts.
The city says the contractor made a mistake by dropping snow on the property.
That area is susceptible to flooding, but Selah says neighbors shouldn't be worried.
"I don't see how that can happen since it's downhill," said Selah Public Works Director Joseph Henne. "The contractor that dumped the snow down there was allowed last year, but this year they were not allowed and they were only supposed to dump a smaller amount from Tree Top."
Selah tells KIMA the contractor's been told he's not allowed to use the site for dumping snow anymore.
