Future of Selah pool rests with voters
SELAH - Selah's new mayor says it will be up to voters whether the city pool survives.
An announcement at the last Selah City Council meeting indicated the pool would close after this summer.
It can only stay open if the city raises money to fix it for the time being until a new one could be built.
Selah is looking at a partnership with the school district and will also ask voters in August to approve a levy for repairs.
Mayor John Gawlik says it tops his agenda to maintain the quality of life.
"Something for the kids in Selah and the surrounding area to enjoy themselves during the summer time," said Gawlik.
Voters in Selah denied a bond in the past for a new school.
Another bond would be needed for a new pool.
