Finally, Toppenish Road Work Coming To An End.
TOPPENISH -- If you drive State Route 22 between I-82 and First Street in Toppenish you've had to deal with a mess.
Crews are working to improve safety there, by widening the road. They hope the changes will help reduce the number of accidents.
Work has been going on all summer but we have some good news. It should be done by the end of the month. Neighbors can't wait.
"I think it's going to help a lot with the three lane roads the truck drivers won't have to get out of people's ways,” said Joyce Button. “There's not going to be the heavy congestion that there is right now."
Workers will also add new guard rails and sidewalks. Total cost for the project is $4 million.
