WinCo: No Plans to Open Store in Union Gap

UNION GAP -- A representative from WinCo Foods says the company has no plans to open a store in Union Gap.

City officials in Union Gap told Action News on Friday they were hopeful the company would build a store here by the end of next year.

WinCo purchased land in Union Gap near Costco back in 2010.

"Winco looked at the Yakima market but we have since redirected our efforts and have not looked at the market since," said Mike Read, a spokesperson for WinCo. "It would be a miscommunication to say we have any plans in [the Yakima] market right now."

Read also said the company is committed to Washington State and plans to build additional stores in Central Washington could change at any time.
