Crime Analyst Leaves Yakima Police Department

YAKIMA -- Yakima Police Department's crime analyst has left to take another job and police aren't sure if they will find a replacement.

Cesar Abreu was hired by former police chief, Sam Granato.

His hiring set off a storm of complaints by rank and file officers who claimed the position's $100,000 salary was too much for someone who did little to help the department fight crime.

Even city council members questioned his value and qualifications.

Yakima police now say they may just take the savings from that position and use it to protect against future budget cuts.
