Super Saturday Christmas Shopping
YAKIMA -- With Christmas just one week away, lots of people are sprinting to finish checking off their gift list. Since there are so many last-minute shoppers, it is no wonder the Saturday before Christmas is called Super Saturday. It is the second busiest shopping day of the year and retailers count on it.
In downtown Yakima, Action News found many shoppers. They chose the shops by Track 29 because of the unique finds. Crowds where not a problem, but many shoppers were surprised to see many shops closed.
Store owners tell Action News business is good, with sales similar to last year. They say the mad rush close to Christmas is usual behavior. They say people tend to wait.
"You get a little nervous and think that it's not going to happen, we're not going to do well this Christmas and then usually it's just the last week before and it's just crazy," says John Kilbourne of Raindance.
Don't worry if you did not get all your shopping done on Super Saturday. Most stores have extended hours until Christmas to help you get it done.
