Kanye West sued over 'Gold Digger' lyrics

Rapper and father-to-be Kanye West is learning that it's never too late to get slapped with a lawsuit. Eight years after his hit "Gold Digger" topped the charts, the family of a little-known Motown band has brought charges against him for allegedly stealing their lyrics.

MTV reports that family members of Thunder & Lightning's David Pryor have alleged that West's "Gold Digger," which also heavily samples Ray Charles, features a lyric from their song "Bumpin' Bus Stop" which he did not get permission to use.

The suit demands that the song's label, Roc-a-Fella, cease sales of the song, in addition to providing the family members, who each own one quarter of "Bumpin' Bus Stop," with "millions of dollars."

However, the Pryor family may have a difficult time collecting -- the lyric in question is simply the repetition of the line "Get down girl, go 'head, get down."

Jamie Foxx, who provided vocals for "Gold Digger" does not appear to be named in the suit.
