It's no secret that March has been kind of a crazy month for Justin Bieber. And while fans and onlookers may be growing concerned about his erratic behavior (like his recent spat with neighbors, or any of the other trouble he's gotten into), there's at least one person who's taking a more hands-off approach: His mother.

Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, appeared on Access Hollywood yesterday morning to answer questions about the 19-year-old's behavior. The gist of the interview? Boys will be boys, he's a kid, and she's just not that worried about it.

"I think him being 19... I just gotta let go a little and let him make some of his own decisions. I'm sure you can appreciate, as a mom, how I feel when I read some of these stories," Mallette explained in the interview, "I come at it from a different angle."

And while she did express a desire to "to be able to take away free will sometimes and be able to do everything for him," her overall attitude seemed to be that Biebs needed to make his own choices.

Is that really the best approach for a teenager who seems to be in a downward spiral? As Crushable's Jill O'Rourke points out, Mallette's "quotes reveal a few things about her approach to parenting a 19-year-old topless pop sensation. Namely, that she doesn’t. Parent, that is. As in the verb. As in what parents do."

What do you think? Does the Biebs need a little more parenting?
