YAKIMA, Wash. -- Many voters in Yakima are waiting to election day to cast their ballots.

As of Saturday, about 46% of Yakima voters have turned in their ballots. In total, 48,691 ballots have been counted so far.

People who voted early say they did so because there are too many important issues to pass up.

"I think that having gay marriage and marijuana on the ballot are very big changes that our generation has the opportunity to vote on," said voter Josie Heath. "Not every generation has the chance to make such big decisions when they vote."

If you want your vote to count, you have to have your ballot post-marked by Election Day.
