Yakima teen hit by car improving, gives 'thumbs up'

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The teenager hit by a car last week while walking in Yakima is now in serious condition.

Ryan Morris was taken to a Seattle hospital in critical condition last week. His family says their son was acknowledging them Monday and even gave a 'thumbs up.'

Police said the 15-year-old was trying to grab a piece of paper at 56th Ave. and Summitview Ave. when he was hit.

Morris suffered broken bones and a head injury.
