SELAH, Wash. --The Selah city council has unanimously passed a new ordinance on skateboards, longboards and scooters.

The new law requires skateboards and scooters on public roads to obey the same rules of the roads that bicyclists do.

Users are now required to have additional safety equipment such as helmets and must move to the side of the road when impeding traffic.

At night, riders must have a light that shines at least 500 hundred feet ahead of them.
