More Kids Start Fires in Yakima
By Stacy Lilienthal
YAKIMA --- Fires caused by juveniles nearly doubled in Yakima in 2009.
The fire department tells us at least 15 fires were caused by the kids playing with fire. Those fires caused more than $378,000 in damage. The advice: get your kids help the moment they start playing matches or lighters. "The potential is there, the potential of doing it again is there. So you really want to take care of that problem as soon as you can," Ron Melcher told Action News. He says the Yakima Fire Department has a special program that teaches kids not to start fires. |
