YAKIMA --- Leaders from across the state came to Yakima to tackle violent crime.

Mayors, attorneys, and police gathered at the convention center. They shared ideas about what has worked and not worked in their respective cities. The goal is to spread the best ideas for fighting violent crime to every Washington community. "The important piece is that all of our communities throughout our state are being effected by violent crime, and gun crime, by gang crime. And again, we need to come together and we need to press, push, and do what we need to do to make it stop," Yakima mayor, Dave Edler said.

The group is forming a coalition to push it's own funding agenda in the state legislature.
