Shooting Near the Davis High School
By Stacy Lilienthal
Yakima- Police now say the shooting Wednesday in Yakima was gang related.
The shooting happened mere feet away from the Davis High School. It started at the car wash across the street. Police say 22-year-old Teodoro Lopez was hit it the chest and arm just before 3:00. "It's about the worst time of day for the shooting to occur. Of course there's dozens of kids that walk along Walnut to and from school," Captain Greg Copeland reflected. Davis High School, McKinley Elementary and the Resource Center all went into lock-down mode for a half-an-hour after hearing the shots. "School officials said that we were going to enter a lock-down, and so they put us in a classroom and locked the doors and shut off the lights," Davis High School senior, Sebastien LaChance Barrot remembered. 18-year-old Rafael Aguilar and his 17-year-old brother, who goes to Davis High School, were caught by cops and are being charged with two counts of assault. |
