ELLENSBURG -- In this bad economy, there's been a lot more pressure on students to find outside sources to pay for college tuition.

In the middle of a packed student union, you'll find sophomore Dominick Davis studying for a future exam.

"Step by step, day by day, you just need to keep pushing," he tells Action News.

Like many of his fellow students, Davis receives financial aid. However, one month into the school year, he's still waiting for his check to arrive.

This school year, Central Washington University has approved two thousand more students for for financial aid. As a result, the school is backlogged and taking much longer to get that aid to students like Davis.

"It's a big hassle right now," he says.

In the wait for his check, Davis has had to cut back on a lot of things he used to enjoy, including eating at the student union.

For their part, CWU officials encourage students to apply for financial aid as soon as possible, so there won't be similar delays in the future.
