NACHES, WA -- A landslide Early Sunday shuts down almost 50 miles of Highway 410 and it's growing! The latest from the Department of Transportation shows parts of the highway went into the Naches River. Action News has been keeping an eye on the mess since early Sunday morning and has some of the first video from the affected area.

Ten miles west of Naches a landslide shut down Highway 410.

"Just rather scary for the people that are up there and trapped just trying to get a hold of people and telling them to get out," says Zella Green.

"The whole hillside started to slide and you can see the river now starting to mud-up," says Wally Butler.

Green and Butler are just a couple of the nearly 60 people evacuated from
the area. A quarter mile of the roadway is covered in 20 feet of debris.
The mess is running into the Naches River and is pushing water out and flooding the highway.

"My fiance and his younger brother are up behind the Woodshed with the horses so I'm just kinda like oh no," says Hailey Overacker, looking for loved one.

Emergency personnel say no one was hurt but one home has been pushed off it's foundation.

"Just looking at the amount of debris and how high it came from above the roadway which was 500-600 feet, they said they've never seen anything like this," says Meagan McFadden, WSDOT.

DOT is not letting anyone through Highway 410. It's closed off for safety and because the landslide is still crumbling. The highway is expected to stay
closed for at least a week for clean-up.
