Sunnyside Girl Escapes Incredible Car Crash
A six year old girl barely escaped getting crushed by a car in Sunnyside.
The girl was walking on the sidewalk, heading toward the door of a local market when a Toyota Camry came crashing into the wall. Police say the driver was backing up at a high rate of speed as a passenger was trying to get in the car. Right before the car hit, the girl turn around. She was able to escape injury because the car hit a parking pole first, lifting the back of the car off the ground. " This young girl was extremely lucky. She happened to be in the right place at the wrong time. Had she moved one foot to the left or one foot to the front this could have been pretty bad for her," said Sunnyside Police Officer, Scott Orate.
The driver, 35 year old Isabel Hernandez, was arrested for reckless driving. She will also face charges for driving with a suspended license.
