Child narrowly escapes being crushed by car

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Whether it was good timing or a quick reaction, a child in Sunnyside is lucky to be alive after nearly being crushed by an out-of-control car.
And the whole incident was captured by a security camera:
Police said the driver was parked at the Valley View Market at 107 West Lincoln Avenue on Sunday night when she began quickly backing up. Her passenger was trying to get in the car, leaving the door open, and the Toyota Camry struck a pickup truck parked next to it and then slammed into the side of the building. As car hit the wall, a small child was walking between a parking pole and the building. The car came crashing down on top of the pole, and the child was not hurt. Police said the child would have been hit if the pole was not there. The 34-year-old woman who was driving the car had a suspended license, officials said. |
