Yakima Deputy Police Chief Gets No Confidence Vote
By Melissa Wagner
Yakima City Manager Dick Zais was handed a hot issue with the Yakima Police Department. Deputy Chief Kelly Rosenow got a "no confidence" vote by YPD's command staff Friday.
The unanimous vote came from almost 30 sergeants, Lt's, captains and some corrections staff. This is the first time the city manager has seen a "no confidence" vote within the department. And he says he was completely surprised by it. " There will be a careful assessment and evaluation of what gives rise to this. I want to know what are the specifics and facts that back up these votes and statements represented against the deputy chief," said City Mangager, Dick Zais. Zais isn't saying what the allegations are at this time, except that they're pretty broad. Rosenow was hired less than two years ago. The city manager will review the vote, along with city attorney's office and decide what, if anything, should be done. |
