Business Boom for Ellensburg Hotels
By Ryan Simms
ELLENSBURG -- As the Ellensburg Rodeo attracts tens of thousands of people, local hotels are doing a booming business.
At one bed and breakfast in Ellensburg, Gary Mabee is having quite a weekend. "It gets to be competitive to find rooms here in Ellensburg," he says . Mabee is the owner of "The Inn at Goose Creek." As the Ellensburg Rodeo gets underway, Mabee is welcoming guests from across the globe. "We got some people from the UK here now... They based their whole trip around the Ellensburg rodeo," he tells Action News reporter Ryan Simms. With such an action-packed weekend in Ellensburg, most people had to book their hotel rooms more than six months in advance. However, guests like Lloyd Harvey managed to booked their reservations at the last minute, because of other guests canceled their reservations. "I booked at the last minute, but I was able to find a hotel room, so it wasn't too bad," Harvey says. Mabee hopes every weekend could be like the one he's experiencing now. "We wish we had the rodeo 365 days a year. We would be full every day, and that would be nice" Also nice, every hotel in Ellensburg being filled to capacity this weekend. |
